There are many advantages to living in the city centre. Being close to most university campuses and the vibrant social scene can be the biggest draw into the city for students. The choice of large purpose-built student developments located in the city has increased rapidly over recent years. Rent levels are a premium in the city centre, starting from around £85 per person per week*, with typical average rents of £150 per person per week*, and even higher rents for self contained studio apartments. Car parking is also very limited and may come at an additional cost.

 

Key areas within the city centre include: Ropewalks (L1), Byrom St/St Georges Quarter (L1/L2/L3), Knowledge Quarter (L1/L3/L7), Baltic Quarter (L1/L8), Waterfront (L2), Fabric Quarter/University Hospital (L3/L6/L7).

Kensington & Kensington Fields - L6 & L7Search for properties in this area

 

Kensington is located on the cusp of the city centre and is easily walkable. Accommodation in this area is largely traditional terraced housing and flats with mixed dwellings of local residents and students. The area is popular with students wishing to live within close proximity to the city centre at lower rent levels, which are an average of around £111 per person per week*.

Edge Hill - L7Search for properties in this area

 

This area is close to the city centre and within short walking distance of the University of Liverpool campus. Typically the accommodation in this area is 1 and 2 bedroom flats or large shared town houses. Average rents in this area are around £116 per person per week*.

 

 

Georgian Quarter - L8Search for properties in this area

 

This area of the city houses some of the finest Georgian terraces in the country, referred to locally as the Georgian Quarter. Accommodation in this area is limited and generally comprises of large shared dwellings and self-contained flats. The large traditional houses are popular with those wishing to live within close proximity to the city centre, University of Liverpool campus or Liverpool John Moores University Mount Pleasant campus. Smithdown/Wavertree - L15Search for properties in this area

 

This area has a diverse community and is a short bus or bike ride from the city centre. The properties are mostly traditional terraced houses, which are shared but there are also a limited number of self-contained flats.

 

The University of Liverpool's Greenbank Student Village is a short commute from Smithdown and Liverpool Hope University is close by in Childwall. There are plenty of local amenities including supermarkets, bars, cafes and restaurants. Average rents in this area are around £121 per person per week*.

Childwall - L16Search for properties in this area

 

Childwall, in the main is a leafy residential suburb with limited student accommodation, which tends to be within walking distance of Liverpool Hope University. Properties tend to be 3, 4 and 5 bed semi-detached houses. Parts of Childwall are within walking distance of Allerton Road, which has restaurants, cafes and bars. Transport links into the city centre are good, taking about 20-25 minutes by bus. Average rents in this area are around £121 per person per week*.

 

 

Aigburth - L17 & L19Search for properties in this area

 

Lark Lane in this area has lots of cafes, restaurants and eclectic shops, with Sefton Park nearby. There are good transport links to the city centre, taking about 15-20 minutes by bus or 7 minutes by train from St Michael’s station. There is a bus from Aigburth Vale to Liverpool Hope University in Childwall. Average rents in this area are around £96 per person per week*.

 

 

Allerton/Mossley Hill - L18Search for properties in this area

 

Located to the south of the city, Mossley Hill is bordered by Aigburth, Allerton, Childwall and Wavertree. This area is close to Smithdown Road and is mostly residential. Housing is mainly semi-detached, with occasional detached and numerous terraced streets. The area around Sefton Park has many large Victorian villas.

 

There are excellent local amenities including shops, cafes and bars all within close proximity. Also close by is the University of Liverpool's Greenbank Student Village. Liverpool Hope University in Childwall is a short bus ride. Average rents in this area are around £92 per person per week*.
