Council Tax

If you are a full time student studying 21 hours per week or more you will be eligible for a Council Tax Exception Certificate.  You will need to provide this to your landlord/accommodation provider when you are moving into private rented accommodation.  All the people you live with will need to be full time students as well to ensure that Council exception can be given.

University of Liverpool students

How do I get a Council Tax student certificate?
 

If you are a registered full-time student, studying on the main campus, and you wish to request your Council Tax student certificate, you can do this through Liverpool Life.

• Login to the student portal
• Check your term time address is correct. If your address needs to be changed click on the Update address(es) and phone(s) link
• Click Personal information on the left hand side
• Select Request a document
• Click submit.

The University will produce the document for you and email it to your University email address within three working days. 

Liverpool Hope University students

Where can I find a Council Tax Exemption Form?
Council Tax Exemption Forms can be found on your Student Records Management.

Sign in to My Hope to complete the form then take it to the Gateway Service Desk for the form to be stamped.

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine students

An email should be sent requesting the certificate to the Programme Administration team at saas@lstmed.ac.uk 

The confirmation letter will be returned by email.
