The Railyard is a wonderful site with an incredible history. Occupying what was the original terminus of the Manchester to Liverpool Railway built by Robert Stephenson, it was the first intercity passenger station. Its history is reflected not only in its name, but by high retaining walls that surround the secret garden at the rear of the property, and by the remaining red-brick ventilation towers that still stand in Crown Street Park 100 yards up the road from our site.
